MAGE ARENA PRICE

Mage Arena is not a free game and is currently priced at $2.99 on Steam on account for the bug fixes and the game's Early Access state.

This has been mentioned by the game's developer, jrsjams, on the game's official Steam page.

The price is still $2.99 as of August 2025 and potentially may stay the same until the game is on final release and more features have been added by the developer.

MAGE ARENA IN ACTION

HOW TO PLAY MAGE ARENA

Master the arcane arts with your voice and dominate the arena

How to Play Mage Arena
Mage Arena Gameplay

Core Mechanics & Controls

Voice-Activated Spellcasting

Cast spells by shouting English commands into your microphone (e.g., "Fireball," "Freeze," "Wormhole"). Accuracy matters: mispronunciations or background noise may cause misfires or self-damage.

Reset Spell Cooldowns

Drop your spellbook (hold G) and pick it up immediately to bypass cooldowns—a useful trick in emergencies.

Movement & Interaction

  • Navigate using standard WASD keys
  • Use Q to open the map, showing teammate positions, biomes, and objectives
  • Target enemies with D; hold D to cancel targeting

Game Modes & Objectives

Capture the Flag (4v4)

  • Capture Your Base Flag First: Rushing out without securing your flag is a common mistake
  • Respawn Rules: Eliminated players respawn until their flag is stolen by enemies
  • Biome Exploration: Maps consist of randomized hexagonal biomes. Check the map (Q) to locate flags or loot-rich areas (e.g., lava fortress, cemetery mausoleum)

1v1 Duels

Fast-paced battles where vocal precision and timing decide victories. Misheard spells often lead to chaotic outcomes.

Exploration & Crafting

Biome-Specific Challenges & Loot

  • Loot Types: Chests contain spells, weapons (e.g., swords), or rare items like "Weed of the Pipe" (creates smoke rings)
  • Unique Spells: Six spells (e.g., healing "Divine Light," high-damage "Thunderbolt") can only be found in chests or by trading with gnomes
  • Environmental Hazards: Mushroom pits require bouncing on fungi to reach islands. Frog swamps slow movement with mud; giant frogs can eat players

Crafting System

  • Collect resources (mushrooms, crystals) from biomes
  • Craft tools (e.g., shrinking rays, frog spears) at "synthesis stumps"
  • Goblin Deliveries: Green goblins periodically drop materials at your base. Kill them to steal their loot—they respawn!

Combat Tips & Advanced Tactics

Elemental Interactions

  • Extinguish fire (from lava or fireballs) by casting "Freeze" at your feet
  • Use "Divine Light" (found in Mausoleum vases) for quick healing during exploration

Teamplay Strategies

  • Friendly Fire: Enabled—avoid hitting allies!
  • Night Mechanics: Darkness limits visibility; torches reveal your position to enemies
  • Health Bars: Teammate health is visible below their names; red names denote enemies

Gnome Trading

Trading your spellbook to a gnome yields random items (usually materials), but you lose spells until respawn—not recommended!
